Random thought and a parental concern

Random thought:
If/when the grunge bands from the 90s become lounge acts in Vegas, will they wear sequined flannel shirts?

Parental Concern:
Will I harm my daughter's language acquisition by reading her stories in Swedish Chef?

"Will I harm my daughter's language acquisition by reading her stories in Swedish Chef?"

Let me first reassure you that your concern is perfectly normal and reflects a genuine concern for your child's welfare which is laudable. The Swedish Chef is a perfectly valid dialect of English and your daughter will most likely relate to it as a second-generation child: she will recognize it and understand it, but once she is of speaking age will respond in a manner typical for your region to your Swedish Chef utterances, often with an accompanying plea to "act normal." You can safely ignore these pleas.

Thanks, mr. language person. I feel much more at ease now raising my daughter in a Swedish Chef-friendly household environment.

However, I stumbled upon a new concern tonight: what about reading stories with the words rearranged in semi Yoda-like fashion?

I think you should set the language preferences on google to swedish chef so that she grows up thinking that's the way the internet is supposed to be. (Because it is.)
